Earl Thurmon, 91, of Obion, died Sunday, Nov. 29. 2009, at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired employee of GTE Sylvania, a member of Cat Corner Church of Christ, trained hunting bird dogs, raised quail and was an avid hunter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Parks Thurmon, Bro. Roy Thurmon and Bro. Loy Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Mitzi Gwaltney of Obion and Judy Tucker of Nashville; two sisters, Ruth Hailey of Memphis and Jewel Pigg of Annandale, Va.; three brothers, Roy Thurmon and Parks Thurmon, both of Dyersburg and Hurtle Thurmon of Ridgely; three grandchildren, Jeff Caldwell, Christopher Tucker and Jason Tucker; five great-grandchildren, Jack Ryan Tucker, Ansley Tucker, Jeffrey Caldwell, Kyle Caldwell and Ava Tucker.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith
Lawson Thurmon; his parents, Eugene and Ira Thurmon;
three sisters, Angella Seaton, Wilma Whybrew and
Regina Marshall;
and two brothers,
J.E. Thurmon and Melvin Thurmon.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Gwaltney, Larry Tucker, Jeff Caldwell, Kyle Caldwell, Christopher Tucker, Jason Tucker and Jeff Caldwell Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Ryan Tucker and Klay Caldwell.
